ATV / UTV / OFF-ROADING

ATVs, UTVs, and off-roading are some of the best ways to explore the Black Hills! Rent one of our new vehicles, or if you brought your own, ride straight out from our place. Rec Springs is located in the center of the Northern Black Hills trail system. When riding with your own equipment, be sure to get a Forest Service Trail Permit. You can pick one up right from us or at any of these locations:

  • Rec Springs Resort – Lead, SD
  • Pactola Visitor Center (open Memorial Day to Labor Day)
  • Black Hills Visitor Center – I-90, Exit 61, Rapid City, SD
  • Northern Hills Ranger District – Spearfish, SD
  • Mystic Ranger District – Rapid City, SD

Or you can purchase the trail pass online. Follow the link below:

South Dakota is one of the few states that allow ATV and UTV use on the roads and highways (except interstate). If your own ATV/UTV is not licensed and road legal in your own state, we recommend getting a temporary license. These can be purchased at the Lawrence County Treasurer's office in Deadwood or by mail with the form below.
